THE NOT SO SUCCESSFUL "BANDH"

                                                      THE NOT SO SUCCESSFUL “BANDH”
The “BANDH” which was held on Wednesday the 20th February in support of protesting against the petrol and diesel prices.  But does burning tires and buses help? Though many worker associations supported the close down it was not very successful. Especially in Bangalore it was not up to the expectations of many but the problem is why was this protest only against fuel prices? What about FDI??  WALMART??  ECONOMIC RESCISSION in India??
Who is going think about that? We are thinking about 80 rs per liter of petrol but what about the 32 rs as the minimum wage of some people? And when we decide to close down for a day , do we ever pause to think about those who depend upon the daily  wage ? Even if the argument is made about the lager good for many why aren't the above issues raised? Are not these for larger good? And how does closing everything help? I am not against those who believe so but is it not better to find a solution rather than just protesting against everything?  There are people who misuse these close downs for their personal grudges or wishes why else would there be loots happening during the protest for common good? Sometimes it is personal and sometimes maybe political but why burning public transport? And harm other government property?? Don’t people who are responsible for these not so civil activities realise that all these amenities come from our pockets, in the form of taxes.
How come we do not care about these losses? Have all of us become so passive that we have taken an oath to not to ever raise a voice against these things? I don’t mean another close down but an action to solve these issues or rather an attempt to solve them.  The worker associations who supported willingly, good for them but why force others to protest? A survey by a news channel on this close down indicated that only twenty percent of auto drivers wanted to support and others were forced to support it. How is charging extremely high fares help the cause. Is  the “BANDH” the only choice?

JUST AN EQUAL

NOT A GODDESS, NOT A SLAVE AND DEFINITELY NOT A COMMODITY
                                                   JUST AN EQUAL
I Think it is only in India that women are worshipped, we are given the status of a goddess and are compared to Sita, Savitri  or  anasuya as a great pativratha. All this happens only in pure Indian context.
But there are some stereotypes present around the world. Why is a woman always designated as a sister, mother, wife or a daughter? And then again contradicting to these stereotypes women are exploited by physical, verbal and sexual abuse. Why is the thought that a woman needs to be under the wings of her father, husband  and a son still prevailing?
Though at present most women are educated or economically independent we still depend on men for protection at least in the matter of physical protection. Why don’t we teach our daughters how to protect themselves? Why do we still teach them to adjust, to be considerate, to be accommodating? And importantly to be quite?  And specially  in the Indian context on hand women are worshiped and on the other denigrated and its only women  who are compared to goddesses not men the comparing is just a boundary drawn around us to curb our freedom, or it seems so otherwise why don’t we see men expected to be Ram ? or chastity stressed upon men as well? And why are men not seen as father, husband or son? They are bound by relation too aren't they?
Purely only in Indian context, only woman is a symbol of prosperity goddess of food a monolith    of calm and forgiveness and their beauty is expected to be that of heavenly maidens  after all these years we are still stuck with same notions. We don’t want to be worshiped or to be placed as a goddess but we are still struggling to be an equal.
“I DON’T WANT TO BE A GODDESS NEITHER A SLAVE , I DON’T WANT TO BE ABOVE OR BELOW I AM A DAUGHTER, WIFE, SISTER AND A MOTHER BUT ABOVE ALL I AM A WOMEN!”

I AM NO DIFFERENT

                                                                I AM NO DIFFERENT
Though homosexuality has become legal , people still  treat homosexuality as a taboo or weird and because if this people prefer their own gender go through a lot of misery . when people meet others of same interest  in social forum what happens?
One such story ….
Two men meet  on social networking sight  become friends start to speak about  sports, bikes movies and friends and start hanging out become involved in each other’s  lives and friend circles gradually become best friends . during the many games of 3d football intimacy grew and both realized what they felt for each other or meant for each other .
But they start avoid each other because of the conventional societal norms . they become frustrated with themselves and people around them they start becoming distant from their family , friends  and each other one keeps quite but the other confides to a friend but others become aware of this and start avoiding him , belittling him demoralizing him and his family becomes angry with him and goes to an extent of disowning him.
NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN ENTIRELY TRUE STORY SOME OF IT IS FICTIONAL.
But there are many who go through such problems and the dilemma  regarding  who they are or when they know they are scared to tell others. Though our constitution permits homosexuality, the moral laws and ethics are causing hindrance. We have to change our mind set  and broaden our perspectives and respect every one and their choice.

A DELAYED EXECUTION

Afzal guru was executed  on february 9 2013 after five days of continuous secrecy by the government  to his family . He had applied for mercy petition 6 years back and which was kept on hold for many years saw a tremendous speed all of  a sudden and performed in the same manner of ajmal kasab .
Though the  difference being this act was considered one of the most inhumane act  by the government of India Afzal guru was hanged 7 years after the supreme court's pronouncement of the death sentence on him on august 4th ,2006 and over  six years after his clemency petition to the president of India  but no stand was taken and it was an agonized situation condemned by all civilized countries .
But why was there such a delay even when opposition demanded for a verdict and why was the decision taken after six years in such a haste that the execution was done within five days ?! is it one of the election strategies ??
The convict was imprisoned without a clear picture of his future and he and his family were traumatized because of the lack of knowledge about him. Many consider it was not feasible of the government to await authoritative pronouncement of the supreme court and also that Afzal Guru's execution will remain callous.

Mirror

I  slept  after  reading  Milton's paradise  lost  and  the  description of  Eve  falling in   love with  her own  reflection  . I  had  a  dream  -  In that dream  i woke up to a  beautiful  meadow  with  lush  green  grass , a  flowing  river  which  sounded  like a peal of bells when the light shone on the river the water droplets sparkled like diamonds and the dew drops on grass looked like emeralds looking to my left and right i found a huge oval shaped mirror twined with fragile creepers i hesitated but went to look in the mirror
when i saw my reflection i was shocked all i could see was only a pair of  eyes gawking at me but the rest of me is covered strips of white cloth i was mummified alive i started to pull the strips off me but it was hard i wanted to scream but i could not each strip which wound me in the name of society , gender , class, religion , language ,and nationality .
I put in a lot of  effort in breaking the hold of this bondage, but i couldn't because the threads of the strips were strong like culture, heredity and tradition the strips were meant for a beautiful cloth to protect me  but this was excess and it did not cater to its original purpose and it was suffocating and in the attempt of breaking bond the mirror shattered and my dream too.
and when i woke up from my dream i realized that i was not mummified but definitely bound.
